The legendary Cristiano Ronaldo has proved that age is just a number when it comes to being the Greatest Player Of All Time in football after leading his national team to victory in the Nations League finals at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany.
Portugal has become the first-ever team to win the Nations League title twice after beating Spain, the silverware holders 5-3 in a penalty shootout following a 2-2 stalemate in the regular time.
Despite suffering from an injury the 40 year old Ronaldo kept Portugal in the game by scoring the second equaliser in the 61st minute of the match as Spain was leading 2 to 1. This goal also extended his record to 138th goals in his career.
Spain had high hopes of lifting the trophy as they were leading by half-time with the first goal from Mikel Oyarzabal and the second from Martin Zubimendi, an assist from young Lamine Yamal.
In as much as fans were expecting Lamine Yamal to outperform Cristiano Ronaldo, it was quite a tough game for both and the pressure was high. Both Ronaldo and Yamal were later substituted.
As Portugal scored their winning penalty, Ronaldo was seen sobbing and he later opened up on his tearful reaction saying that it's always special to win titles for his national team other than his individual achievements and that he felt it was a duty done.
Commenting on Lamine Yamal, Ronaldo said he shall win many, many titles to comeamd describes him as phenomenal asking for patience and to be given room to grow.
